Crimson Desert Nintendo Switch 2 Version Still in the Works, Pearl Abyss Confirms
When Crimson Desert launched on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in March, many people believed Pearl Abyss would not bring the game to Nintendo Switch 2 because its massive graphical scope was thought to be too demanding for the console.
However, that is not the case. The Korean developer is still working on a Nintendo Switch 2 version, although the team says it is facing several technical challenges.
According to information shared by Inven Global, Pearl Abyss discussed the project during a shareholder meeting held on July 7. The meeting lasted almost three and a half hours and included comments from the company’s CEO, COO, and CFO, followed by a question-and-answer session with shareholders.
Pearl Abyss Gives an Update on Crimson Desert for Nintendo Switch 2
During the Q&A, shareholders asked about the possibility of bringing Crimson Desert to Nintendo Switch 2. Pearl Abyss CEO Huh Jin-young answered the question directly.
He said, “We believe it is important to showcase Crimson Desert on as many platforms as possible. We are reviewing the Nintendo Switch 2, and it is currently being developed to a level where basic gameplay is possible.”
He added, “However, platform expansion is not just a simple port; the key is whether we can fully maintain the graphics, action, and open-world experience of Crimson Desert on that device.”
The CEO added that the Switch 2 version still needs more optimization and technical testing. The team also has to review its work with partners and make sure the game meets the company’s quality standards. “Therefore, it is difficult to confirm a release schedule. We will announce it transparently once there is confirmed information.”
For now, Pearl Abyss has not said whether the Nintendo Switch 2 version will be ready before the end of 2026. As more information becomes available, we’ll make sure to let you guys know here at MP1st.
Aside from the Switch 2 version, fans can look forward to the premium DLC that’s in the works, as well as the multitude of major updates the game continues to receive. Pearl Abyss has confirmed that major updates are on the way through September and has even released a hotfix earlier today.
