Space Marine 2 Changed Everything for Saber Interactive as Studio Receives More Offers Than It Can Handle
In September, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will mark two years since its release. It has become one of the biggest titles not only in the Warhammer 40,000 series but also one of the biggest hits of the current console generation.
The game has now sold more than 7 million copies and continues to grow with both free and paid content updates.
At the same time, Saber Interactive has more work than ever. Thanks to the success of Space Marine 2, the studio has completely changed how people see it.
Saber Interactive Now Turns Down More Game Offers Than It Accepts After Space Marine 2

Speaking to The Game Business, Saber Interactive CEO Tim Willits explained how Space Marine 2 changed the company. He said, “It not only changed the way that the team looks at making games, it changed how people look at us.”
He added, “I’ve seen this in my career, when you have a huge hit, when you go to make the next game, everything has to be awesome. It’s like, ‘This has got to be the most awesome toaster ever.’ And it fuels success.”
Along with its strong sales, Space Marine 2 also earned praise for how well it adapted the Warhammer 40,000 universe. That success has opened many new doors for the developer. Willits stated, “And because we have a reputation of really doing well with licensed IPs, every major license holder wants to make a video game.”
He continued, “It’s just the way it is. Everybody. So, we are in a very fortunate position to turn down more than we can accept.”
That even includes one very famous franchise that Willits could not reveal because the studio had to reject the offer. “I can’t say the name, but… you know you’re successful when you’ve turned down those guys. It’s really nice to be in that position,” Willits added.
At the moment, Saber Interactive is also busy with several other projects. The first is Hellraiser: Revival, which will launch in October.
After that, the studio is working on Turok: Origins, the remastered Hitman classic trilogy, and Space Marine 3.
Even with all of these projects, Saber Interactive says it will continue supporting Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
