Report: GTA 6 Pre-orders “Heavily Skewed Towards PS5,” Ringing “Alarm Bells” for Xbox Platform
While Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to be released on both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, Sony does have a co-marketing deal with Take-Two Interactive that promotes the hotly anticipated game on PlayStation.

GTA 6 Pre-order Sales Are Reportedly Heavily in Favor for Sony
The latest Notepad newsletter by Tom Warren at The Verge (paywalled) talks about the recent Xbox reset and restructuring, and it doesn’t paint things in a good light, and not just from an optics perspective, but even internally.
One of the things mentioned is how sources at Xbox has told Warren that Grand Theft Auto 6 pre-orders are”heavily skewed toward PS5, ringing yet more alarm bells about the platform.” This, coupled with the fact that Xbox hardware revenue has seen a decline for three straight years, and the ongoing RAM crisis happening worldwide, is even pushing the Xbox Series X|S consoles, painting a dire picture for the Xbox platform.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of GTA 6 pre-orders leaning more on the PS5’s favor. Back in June, Microsoft rejected reports that GTA 6 pre-order sales on the PS5 were beating the Xbox 8:1.
Of course, given how the trailers for GTA 6 have been updated to feature PS5 links with no mention of Xbox, that probably contributed to that significantly too.
While this might be bad news for Xbox fans, the platform does have Hideo Kojima’s Physint in its corner, and it’s up in the air whether the title will even be released on PlayStation — something even Kojima can’t answer now.
When it comes to GTA 6, the game’s Collector’s Edition called the “Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection” was revealed today, and it costs a whopping $400 and doesn’t even include the game.
