The saga regarding Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision-Blizzard is still on-going, but it has passed one hurdle it seems, as the deal has just been approved in Brazil!

The full document from Brazil’s Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE)  can be seen her, and the translation is below (via Google Translate):

Based on §1 of art. 50 of Law No. 9,784, of 1999, I integrate the reasons of Opinion No. 21/2022/CGAA3/SGA1/SG (SEI No. 1128655 ) to this decision, including its motivation. Pursuant to arts. 13, XII, and 57, I, of Law No. 12,529, of 2011, I decide to approve this merger without restrictions. Publish yourself.

The document has been signed just today as well.

Also of note, for those not sure if this is legitimate, multiple people from the country have confirmed the document’s legitimacy as well, so this is the real deal.

Of course, this deal is far from over, as Sony seems to be pushing back hard and even allegedly met with EU regulators over it. As for Microsoft, the company opened a new web page touting how the deal pushing through will be good for gamers. It doesn’t look like Microsoft is worried though, as the company’s CEO Satya Nadella states that he’s “sure” that the deal will push through.

Once we know more about the deal. we’ll report the update to our readers.
