For those hoping to carry over their game data from one platform to another in Apex Legends, that might take a while, as Respawn has admitted that while they are looking for ways to implement Apex Legends cross-progression, it’s not that easy, as the game’s tech wasn’t built with it in mind.
In a roundtable interview for Apex Legends’ upcoming Eclipse Season which MP1st was invited to, Design Director Evan Nikolich was asked about that very question, and here’s his response:
Q: Is cross progression coming to the game?
Evan Nikolich: Cross progression is something we are constantly looking at. Our tech stack from the very beginning was not built with cross progression in mind. It is a very technically challenging issue and we want to do it right. Is definitely something we are investigating and want to get into the game at some point.
While that’s a bummer to hear, it’s definitely understandable. I mean, I doubt anyone playing Apex Legends wants a buggy cross-progression system in place just to say that’s it’s there, right?
Apex Legends’ Eclipse will start this November 1, and it will not only feature a new legend in Catalyst, but a new map as well. Check out the Broken Moon map right here to see it in action.
