Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth – Where to Find Gilgamesh

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth offers a ton of side activities, and it’s easy to get lost and sidetracked and even miss a few things. However, if you’ve taken a peak at the game’s trophy list, you may have noticed a reference to one of Final Fantasy’s most recurring characters, Gilgamesh. For the first time, he’s making his debut in Final Fantasy 7, and we’ll tell you exactly how you can encounter this universe-hopping traveler.

Where to Find Gilgamesh in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth:

Gilgamesh Missions – Search for the Protrelics

The journey to searching for Gilgamesh starts fairly early in the game, though it is one that you’ll likely not complete until after you’ve beaten it. Early in the game, you’ll encounter Chadley, the cyborg introduced in Final Fantasy 7 Remake that tasked you to complete combat simulators to advance his research. He’s back, though this time with even more research, as Rebirth offers large open-world areas for you to freely walk around.

Plenty of those activities that are available in these open-world areas contribute to Chadley’s research, though there’s one specific known as “Phenomenon Intel” that revolves around relics called Protorelics. Every region has these, and you’ll need to find the first one in each region in order to start the storyline they each have. Luckily, you can activate a Tower, which normally reveals the first of these in the area. The first one you come across is unmissable as it’s part of the story, but in other regions, you’ll want to look for those towers to reveal the Phenomenon Intel quest line.

Once you start one in a region and complete it, the next one will be revealed, so you don’t have to worry about getting more towers after that, though those do help with other side quests.

There are a total of 24 Phenomenon Intel to do, four in each region, before the exact location of Gilgamesh is revealed. You can’t go to him early, you are required to to finish all 24 Phenomenon Intel missions, which will take a few hours. They’re pretty short, and once you’ve completed all 24 Phenomenon Intel missions, Gilgamesh Island will be revealed.

While you can head to it at this point, I don’t recommend doing it as you’ll need a few things. The first is all the summon materials. To get these, head over to Chadley and begin the combat simulator. You have to defeat all five summons, though they’re relatively easy if you’ve done all the Divine Intel research for each summon. Odin will be the toughest of the bunch, and you can read more details about the fight in our Summons and Odin fight guide.

You’ll also want to be a high level when you reach Gilgamash Island, as the recommendation is level 70, which is the game’s cap. You can go in there lower, but the higher, the better, as it’ll make the wave of fighters much easier to deal with. But that’ll be the fun part that you’ll figure out yourself.

There you have it, that;s how you find Gilgamesh in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
