Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Best Materia Guide

Aside from Cloud & Co. returning in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, another thing coming back from the first game (and the original) are the Materia! There’s a lot of these magical objects in the game, and here’s a breakdown of all the best Materia in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Best Materia Guide:

Limited Quantity Materia

  • Magnify – Expands the range of linked Materia, but lowers potency (leveling up decreases the percentage of the amount of decreased potency).
  • Elemental – When linked to the weapon slot, receive elemental damage from the paired Element Materia. When linked to an armor slot, receive elemental resistance of the paired Element Materia (leveling increases damage/resistance percentage).

These Materias only come in a limited quantity, meaning you won’t be able to get a full set of these to equip every party member. There are only three of each of these, which is fine, considering you can swap these out between party members, as you can only use three at the most outside of the end-game fight.

Magnify Materia Locations

Magnify Materia Location #1 – Chapter 1 Mt. Nibel

The first Magniofy Materia will be available very early on, and it’s pickable during Chapter 1. Proceed with the game as usual, going through Mt. Nibel. Once there, you’ll want to pay attention to your map, but the location is “Northern Ridge – 100 m” and in the spot the cursor is on below. It’s hard to miss as a purple beam can be seen.

Magnify Materia Location #2 – Chapter 9 – Cait Sith

You get the second one automatically during Chapter 9, when Cait Sith joins the party. He will have this Materia already equipped for one of his slots.

Magnify Materia Location #3 – Chapter 12 – Cosmo Canyon

The last Magnify Materia will become available in Chapter 12. Once you reach Cosmo Canyon, head on over to the noticeboard and you should see a side quest named “Victim of Circumstance.” Complete it, and you’ll be rewarded a Magnify Materia.

Elemental Materia Locations

Elemental Materia Locations #1 – Junon Region

All Elemental Materia are earned from completing Chadley’s field intel missions. The first will become available during Chapter 4 when you visit Junon for the first time. You’ll have to do all the Battle Intels, eventually unlocking the Junon Battle Intel: Conqueror of the Skies missions. Complete it, and the Elemental Materia is yours.

Elemental Materia Locations #2 – Gongaga Region

Just like the first Elemental Materia, once you reach Gongaga (Chapter 9), you’ll want to do all the Battle Intel missions to unlock Gongaga Battle Intel: Distant Tremors eventually. Complete that, and you’ll now have two Elemental Materia.

Elemental Materia Locations #3 – Battle Simulator

The last location won’t become available until after you’ve completed the game and done all the standard Battle Simulations. You’ll unlock Brutal and Legendary difficulty, and the last Elemental Materia will be awarded for completing Brutal Challenge: Requiem for the Second.

General Materia That You Can Get for Every Party Member

I won’t break down these locations since they’re so widely found, and chances are you’ll find these just from naturally playing. You will want to be sure you level them up, every single one of them to the max, so you can equip at least seven of each since there are seven party members.

  • HP Up – Increases HP stat.
  • MP Up – Increases the amount of MP.
  • Healing – Allows you to heal party members.
  • Revival – Allows you to revive party members.
  • Prayer – Allows you to heal yourself without expending MP.
  • Steadfast Block – Gives ATB a bonus for blocking and decreases damage.
  • Precision Defence – Makes it easier to perfect block.
  • All Element Materia (fire, ice, wind, electricity).
  • ATB Stagger – Gives ATB boost when staggering enemies.

Every other slot that will still be available can use any other Materia, whether they’re a stat booster or more spells/attacks. Just be sure you aren’t stacking passed bonuses on some of these Materials. For example, HP Up will only give a maximum of 30% HP increase, you cannot stack another HP Up to go beyond that.

With these Materia, and maxing them out, it should make
