How to Defeat Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal in Lords of the Fallen

Pieta in Lords of the Fallen

One of the earliest and most challenging fights in Lords of the Fallen is against Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal. It’s the first proper boss fight of the game. But this is an important one, as Pieta will inevitably join you at the hub area, Skyrest Bridge, and help upgrade your Sanguinarix healing items relatively early on in the game. First, you need to defeat Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal!

How to Beat Pieta in Lords of the Fallen

To find Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal, you must first visit the Abandoned Redcopse. Her boss arena isn’t hard to miss, as you’ll note the vast stretch of land with oversized swords poking up from the ground. At the very end, there she stands. And she’s relentless. Pieta will immediately hurl herself toward you, typically unleashing an attack pattern with two to three hits per. She will occasionally summon Radiance magic in the form of beams, swords, and support angels that deal considerable damage. You’ll want to avoid her Radiance damage-dealing moves altogether.

A little tip before we delve in further: there is a summon outside the boss arena on your second try, should you fail. There’s no shame in using a summon to take down a boss in a Soulslike!

First Phase

Pieta Boss Battle in Lords of the Fallen

During her first phase, Pieta will remain on the ground, using her sword and the occasional magic attack to hurt the player. She’s relatively slow, for the most part, but can quickly increase the tempo of the battle when she wants.

Thankfully, you can block and parry her attacks. This is an excellent time to learn the parry mechanic, as it exposes her to considerable damage. If you can successfully parry her attacks, she will become momentarily stunned. Use this to your advantage and press the attack!

Second Phase

She’ll enter her second phase once you drop her health to approximately half. She grows large wings, zooms around the battlefield, and will now summon Radiance-based copies/angels to help her in combat. Here, she’ll launch a massive, arena-wide attack that deals damage on its first hit, then drops light-based swords into the ground in a field from one end to the other. You can easily dodge these by sticking to the side.

Pieta returns to her standard form and soars away when all is said and done. But don’t worry, you’ll see her again!
