Payday 3 Tips & Tricks for New Players

Payday 3 Tips and Tricks

On the surface, Payday 3 is a straightforward game. You don a mask, enter a bank, and rob the vault of its contents. Along the way, civilians enter the fray, becoming obstacles to overcome, and police assaults become progressively more challenging to manage. Anyone familiar with first-person shooter gameplay and cooperative titles should feel at home. But to genuinely succeed and not let your team down, these Payday 3 tips and tricks for new players should help!

Payday 3 Beginner Tips and Tricks

Whether you’re brand-new to Payday or just to Payday 3, learning the basics can make you a viable part of any heist team.

Learn the Enemies

Alongside the usual police and SWAT, you’ll face a variety of returning and new foes:

  • Zapper: The Taser has a new name, The Zapper, and he brings his iconic stun gun once again to stunlock players.
  • Nader: A new enemy capable of throwing out tear gas grenades that block your view and cause disorientation.
  • Cloaker: The Cloaker uses stealth to sneak up on you and deal significant damage, leading to a downed state almost immediately.

Armor Mechanics

Payday 3 features unique armor mechanics; unlike in past games, it does not regenerate automatically during gameplay. Instead, you must pick up armor from an armor bag. Everyone is out of luck if no team member brings an armor bag. Some armor may regenerate if it’s flashing, but it’s typically not enough to withstand a full assault.

Experiment With Your Loadout

Everyone has a unique playstyle, including you. Initially, you won’t have many weapons unlocked besides a single sidearm, a shotgun, and a basic assault rifle. They work well but can be improved vastly in time. That said, don’t be afraid to experiment. If you’re accustomed to using a shotgun, switch things up and get a feel for the new weapons in Payday 3.

Save Your Money for Useful Upgrades

Spending hordes of cash on cosmetic upgrades that look cool in a heist is enticing, but that’s a mistake. Once you’re rolling in the money, have thoroughly upgraded your weapons, and put points into valuable skills and equipment, focus on buying clothing.
