It looks like while Toys for Bob is doing work on Call of Duty: Warzone, there will be no layoffs at all despite our initial report. And what’s more, Activision has confirmed the studio will continue work on Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time.
A statement regarding the stiuation was sent to us directly by n Activision rep, which you can read below.
“Reports of layoffs at Toys For Bob are incorrect. There has not been a reduction in personnel recently at the studio. The development team is operating fully and has a number of full-time job openings at this time. The studio is excited to continue supporting Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, and more recently provide additional development support to Call of Duty: Warzone.”
This is definitely good news for the studio. Hopefully, this means that they will be able to flex their development muscle on more than just being another Call of Duty support studio.
Yeah I do not believe you Activision. You have on countless occasions said one thing while doing the opposite.
People on the internet react this way because they are (FINALLY) catching on how you work.
Get a studio that makes something a lot of people love.
Force them into a different genre, most of the times they are not familiar with.
Fire them because of dissapointing sales.
In case of 2019, you will fire them just cause. You had an amazing year in 2018 and you fired over 800 people and then started to hire new people just for lower salaries.
You cannot just place any developer on any project.
