During the Age of Empires 25th anniversary event today, franchise publisher Xbox Game Studios announced that the beloved real-time strategy titles Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition and Age of Empires 4 will be coming to Xbox Series X|S consoles in 2023. Both games will also be made available on Xbox Cloud Gaming as well, in addition to their existing Xbox Game Pass presence.

Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition is a 2019 remaster of the original 1999 Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings title with 4K Ultra HD graphics, a fully remastered soundtrack, all previous expansions and the new “The Last Khans” expansion. The game will come to Xbox Series X|S consoles and Xbox Cloud Gaming on January 31, 2023. 

Age of Empires 4, the fourth installment in the series, was released in 2021 and features eight different civilizations, 4K HDR visuals, mod support, and seven-player PvP/PvE modes. The game will march out for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Cloud Gaming at an unspecified time in 2023.
