ARC Raiders Manages to Do Something Almost Impossible: Beating Its First Week Player Count Numbers
In case you didn’t know, there’s a new premium extraction shooter that just got released recently, and it’s proving to be more popular than anyone could have thought. I’m, of course, referring to Embark Studios’ ARC Raiders.
While Embark’s latest game managed to breach over 300,000 players when it launched, it has now achieved something very, very rare for any multiplayer game, and that’s handily beating its first week numbers!
In its second weekend, ARC Raiders has surpassed its release player count on Steam, which is a rare occurrence. Usually, a game reaches its highest concurrent-player count in its first weekend availability, unless it’s a game that flopped hard at launch and sees a resurgence months or years after.
ARC Raiders Surpasses Over 400,000 Concurrent Players on Steam Alone
Today, ARC Raiders on Steam managed to hit over 416, 000! Again, this is just on Steam, and the chances this number is double that is highly plausible if you factor in the PS5 and Xbox Series player bases.
To put things in context, Battlefield 6 managed to storm to over 745,000 concurrent players on Steam at launch, and while it managed a very impressive 426,000 concurrent players in the last 24 hours, it never came close to beating its launch player numbers — at least on Steam.
What makes this achievement by ARC Raiders more impressive is that it’s an all-new IP. It isn’t some known franchise like Battlefield or Call of Duty. It’s a new extraction shooter that managed to pique player interest enought that it’s one of the most played games in the world right now.
I’d say a hearty congratulations is in order, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see ARC Raiders establish a new player count high tomorrow or on Thanksgiving weekend.
