Armored Core 6 Co-Op Mod Released for PC; Lets You Play Through the Game With Friends

Armored Core 6 Co-op Mod

Armored Core fans wishing that Armored Core 6 had co-op may be excited to know that, at least for the PC version, an unofficial co-op mod has just been released, allowing you to play through the game with up to five players.

Dubbed “Armored Core Coop Mod,” this new mod allows PC players to play Armored Core 6 with up to five players (counting you) from nearly start to finish. All progression is shared, so you can start a new game with a group of friends, stop for the night, and continue playing the next day from any other host.

By far warning, this mod is unofficial (like all mods), and as per the creator, LukeYui, you’re likely going to experience bugs since it’s in early alpha.

Additionally, there are online invasions, though they can be disabled if you just want to play with friends without any interruptions. Details on each mode, as well as a FAQ about the mod can be found below.

Armored Core 6 Co-op

This mod works to add online co-op in missions. Since only PvP areas exist in the base game enemy and world synchronisation between clients has been re-implemented from the ground up to attempt to make it feel like a traditional souls multiplayer game.

Play with up to 5 friends.

All mission work other than the Ice Worm mission which has been disabled in co-op whilst it is being fixed.

Armored Core 6 Co-op PvP

During missions, either with your party or alone, you are vulnerable to being invaded by rogue ACs controlled by other players. These players will attempt to disrupt your gameplay and add random PvP encounters throughout the game. Their objective is to kill you and your party members. Your objective is to kill them. Players are rewarded for completing their objective.

The amount of rogue ACs that can disturb your mission is equal to the number of co-operative players you have with the limitation of 6 players in a game. If you are in a party by yourself, you will still be able to be invaded by one rogue AC. You can disable PvP in the “ac6_coop_settings” file by changing “allow_evil_guest = 1″ to “allow_evil_guest = 0”. This option only matters for the host of the session.

If you are playing with other game modifications online PvP is disabled.

  • Is progress shared? – Yes.
  • Are there invasions? – Yes, see above.
  • How does failing a mission work? – If you die during a mission and your party members are alive, then you will enter a spectate mode until your party either reaches a checkpoint, completes the mission, or wipes out. If they reach a checkpoint then you will respawn. If everyone dies then the mission will restart from the beginning
  • Does this worked for cracked/pirated games? – No, I’m also not going to be supporting these versions so please don’t make bug reports about it.
  • Can I modify or redistribute this mod? – No, sorry. Please do not modify, repackage, or redistribute this mod anywhere without my permission.
  • Can I use my save game from the base game? – Yes.
  • Will updating the mod affect my current playthrough with it? – No.
  • Can you get Steam achievements while using this mod? – Yes.

If you want to try the mod, you can head to NexusMod to download it. Just follow the instructions on how to install it there.

This mod is only for PCs, so unless FromSoftware decides to officially release a co-op update, don’t expect co-op on any other platform. That’s not to say FromSoftware can’t add it in a future update, but there’s been no indication that it will be happening anytime soon.
