Xbox CEO Asha Sharma Admits Using a Shared Xbox Account, Denies Using AI for Social Media Posts
It didn’t take long for the internet to start asking questions. After her Xbox gamertag became public, many players began to look at Asha Sharma’s gaming history and wonder how much experience she really had as a gamer.
Some even said her profile did not match what they expected from the CEO of Xbox, especially following the recent leadership change that saw Phil Spencer step down and Sharma take over.
Asha Sharma Responds to Criticism Over Xbox Account and AI Use

In response to the discussion, Asha Sharma, the new CEO of Microsoft’s gaming division, addressed the criticism directly.
She explained that the account shown publicly a few days ago is shared with members of her family, and that not all the games listed in its history were played by her. In a post on X, Sharma said she was not faking her gaming experience.
Sharma’s first Xbox achievement, “Your Journey Begins” in Halo: The Master Chief Collection, was unlocked on January 15 of this year. Since then, the account has recorded activity in 30 titles, with nearly all achievements completed in Ball x Pit.
Sharma stated that her goal is not to be the “best gamer,” but to better understand the gaming world in order to lead Xbox effectively. “My focus is to make Xbox the best place to play, return to our roots, ship great things, and become stronger for the future,” she said.
In addition, many have accused the new CEO of lacking experience in the video game industry. Sharma joined Microsoft in 2024, where she initially led the company’s CoreAI division before being promoted to CEO of Xbox. Previously, she worked at Home Depot, Meta, and Instacart.
In her message, Sharma also said that she personally replies to users on social media and does not use AI to write her responses. Regarding concerns about her gaming experience, she explained that she is more focused on improving the Xbox ecosystem than on playing plenty of video games.

At this point do we really know if she even exists, or is she just an AI being created by Microsoft? She is going to destroy the Xbox market, finding any way possible to make it a worse than it already is. You can tell nobody has faith in her, it wasn’t just Spencer and Bond who left. I’m hearing there are a ton of lower level people who got fired or quit this week like they are abandoning a sinking ship or being thrown overboard for not bowing to their new AI overlord.
