Astro Bot Is Not Coming to PSVR2, But Developers Want to Hear From Fans About a PC Version
While we know Team Asobi’s Astro Bot is coming to PlayStation 5, the developers have commented on why the game won’t be coming to PSVR2 (PlayStation VR2). In addition to that, the studio also mentioned that they are curious about what players think of a possible PC version as well.
In an interview with MinnMax, Nicolas Doucet, the Creative Director of Astro Bot, was asked about the chances of an Astro Bot VR edition for PlayStation VR2. He responded, “No chance. It’s designed for a different medium.” He clarified that if the game were to be adapted for VR, “it would be a different game.” This statement puts an end to speculation about a VR version, at least for now.
This news may be disappointing to those who remember that the original PSVR kit included Astro Bot Rescue Mission as a free game.
However, when asked about the possibility of a PC version, Doucet was more open, saying, “We want to hear from you. Absolutely, we want to hear from you.” This comment suggests that while there are no current plans for a PC release, fan feedback could influence future decisions.
Of course, given how most first-party PlayStation games are seeing a PC release after a few months or a year, the chances of Astro Bot hitting PC is a very real possibility.
Astro Bot is set to launch on September 6 for the PS5, offering a more expansive adventure than Astro’s Playroom. The new game is expected to be significantly larger, featuring over 80 levels, new abilities, and numerous character cameos. Fans who enjoyed the free game included with the PS5 will likely find plenty to be excited about with this new release.
