Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game Announced, Launches Summer 2026
Gameplay Group has announced Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, a fast-paced 1v1 fighting title based on the beloved Avatar franchise.
The game will release sometime in summer 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam.
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game Blends Elemental Mastery with Hand-Drawn 2D Combat and Fluid Movement
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is a fighter rooted in the spirit of elemental mastery. Designed for both newcomers and veterans, it channels the energy of classic fighting games while breaking new ground in movement, style, and combat expression.
Built with a focus on fluidity, responsiveness, and online integrity, the game invites players to discover what it truly means to fight with purpose. Hand-drawn in 2D, it is crafted to preserve the style and expressive animation of the original series.
According to the official description, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is built around a unique “Flow System.” Players can expect:
- 12 Playable Characters at launch, with many more released via Season Model
- Selectable support characters influence your fighting style and grant special moves
- Unique “Flow System” w/Movement Centric Gameplay
- Single Player Campaign w/Original Narrative

The announcement came with a trailer you can watch above. It shows pre-alpha footage with intense fighting scenes between characters and expressive 2D animation, staying true to the original series.
The developers also confirmed that additional features and mechanics will be announced soon, noting that Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is currently a working title, with the final name to be revealed at a later date.
