Remedy Issues “Profit Warning” as FBC: Firebreak Fails to Meet Sales Targets
Remedy Entertainment has suffered a major setback following the failure of FBC: Firebreak, a live service game that failed to attract players and caused significant losses for the company.
In a notice to investors, Remedy issued a profit warning, stating that it expects to end the current fiscal year with a loss, marking a reversal from its earlier expectations of a positive result.
Remedy Says that FBC: Firebreak has Underperformed

In its 2025 half-year financial report, Remedy revealed that FBC: Firebreak’s launch-phase consumer sales underperformed, falling short of expectations. As a result, the studio’s financial outlook has turned negative.
At launch, FBC: Firebreak received many negative reviews, discouraging players who were already unsure about trying an online shooter from Remedy, even though the game was offered as part of PlayStation Plus.
After release, the company quickly responded to player feedback and rolled out several updates to improve the game. On September 29, Remedy released the first major update, titled Breakpoint, which “brought significant changes to the game’s core experience.” Following this update, player engagement and sales metrics improved, but sales still did not reach Remedy’s internal targets.
Because of the low sales, Remedy lowered its long-term sales forecast and recorded a non-cash impairment of €14.9 million, covering most of the game’s capitalized development, publishing, and distribution costs.
The developers have not disclosed the exact size of their projected losses but noted that they will be smaller than last year’s. For reference, in 2024 Remedy reported losses of €4.3 million.
Despite these financial challenges, Remedy confirmed that it does not plan to abandon FBC: Firebreak and will continue developing and improving the game in line with “updated long-term sales forecast.”
MP1st’s review of FBC: Firebreak gave it a score of 6.5 out of 10, stating, “It’s hard to recommend the game in its current state, but if it becomes part of Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus Extra, and you’re subscribed to either, then yes, I’d say give it a shot.”
