Baldur’s Gate 3 Best Settings for PS5 Guide

Baldur's Gate 3 Best Settings for PS5

With Larian Studio’s mega-hit Baldur’s Gate 3 now available on PS5 via early access, console gamers might be wondering just how to set everything in its optimal settings to get the most of your gaming time with this cRPG. MP1st is here to help with our Baldur’s Gate 3 best settings for PS5 guide.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Best Settings for PS5:

Gameplay Settings

  • Show tutorials – If you’re new to the Baldur’s Gate franchise, I recommend playing with this option, as it will teach and explain all the mechanics of the game.
  • Karmic Dice – Avoid failure streaks while keeping the results mostly random. It is recommended to keep this on, especially for new players. Basically, streaks are balanced out, so you’ll never get a bunch of bad rolls repeated consecutively, though the same is true for good rolls. It keeps things mostly balanced rather than fully RNG.
  • Auto Select Character After Combat – Keep this on Avatar, as it means you’ll maintain control of your character after combat rather than switching to the last turn character.
  • Controller Vibration Intensity – Extra strong is fine, but you could save a bit of battery by turning it down or off.
  • Adaptive Triggers – On. There’s multiplayer, but it’s not like you need to be quick on your feet where the triggers will give you a disadvantage.

Save Options

  • Autosave – On
  • Max Numbers of Auto Save – 5
  • Max Numbers of Quick Save – 5
  • Crosssave – On – If you plan on playing on multiple platforms, you’ll need to log into your Larian account on every device.

Controller

Nothing can be modified here, which is fine because the controller scheme is practically perfect as is.

Video

  • Performance/Quality Mode – Outside of resolution, we don’t see much of an improvement in visuals when selecting quality mode, and therefore, we recommend performance since the game can run at 60 FPS. For those planning on playing in splitscreen, it’ll default to quality mode since it can’t render two players at 60 FPS at the same time. Resolution in quality mode is upscaled, where quality targets 1440P.
  • HDR Calibration – On brightness, I have it set to 106 and contrast at 1.40. These settings will differ depending on your monitor or TV set.

Audio

Defaults are fine here, although I’d recommend turning the music down to be able to hear dialogue better.

Interface

Again, defaults all seem as good as they are.

Accessibility

  • Camera Shake – Normally, I say keep this off in games, but Baldur’s Gate 3 isn’t a fast-paced game where you need to swing the camera all the time. I think it adds to a scene in this case rather than come off as annoying.

Explicit Content

  • Show Genitals – Yes, Baldur’s Gate shows full-on genitalia, and if that bothers you, or you plan on playing with family around, then you can turn this option off.
  • Show Cinematic Nudity – Same deal as genitals, turn it off if you don’t want to see any of it. Would be recommended to keep it off if you plan on uploading to YouTube.
  • Share Private Moments – Basically, if you’re playing co-op and want to do some sexy stuff without your friends knowing, disable this option. If you do want your friends to see that you banged a bear, well, turn this on.
  • Dialogue Text Size – If you find the text in Baldur’s Gate 3 to be too small, you can increase it under this setting.
  • Overhead Text Size – Same as dialogue text size, you can increase the size of text that appears over a character.

Expect the PS5 version to house the latest round of improvements rolled out on the PC version, which include Karlach’s epilogue and more. Stay tuned to our review of Baldur’s Gate 3 hitting the site sometime soon (it’s a very big game!).
