Baldur’s Gate 3 Opening Weekend Stats Shows Paladin as Most Used Class, 10M Hours Played and More Revealed

Baldur's Gate 3 Community Update Celebrates Player Count, Infographic Shows Player Choices

The resounding success of Baldur’s Gate 3 is only at the beginning, but Larian Studios couldn’t be more pleased with the outlook. With a peak concurrent count of roughly 815,000 according to the Belgian developer and literally crushing the usual #1 on Steam – Counter-Strike: Global Offensive –  in terms of engagement, they surely have a large smile on their faces.  So much that Larian is already looking into the future, with hotfixes and work on the first major patch already underway. But this community update was also the opportunity to learn a lot from player choices after the game’s official launch, with Baldur’s Gate 3 opening weekend stats revealing the favorite Races and Classes, among other interesting facts.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Opening Weekend Stats:

The first statistics focus on the Race and Class choices. Half-Elves are right there on top, followed closely by Humans and Elves, leaving the last place for the Githyanki — apparently, this came as a surprise to the developers. As for Classes, the community seems to be very fond of the Paladin, and doesn’t really care much about the Cleric.

Players who decided embark on one of the Origin stories chose Gale for the majority, with Karlach and Astarion pretty much a tie for second place. Larian also revealed that 10% of characters made in Character Creation were there for over an hour, so you definitely like to make it shine – and this is in fact something that the community is requesting, a mid-game appearance change option in Baldur’s Gate 3.

The remaining statistics cover some wide topics, and we’ll highlight some of the most important here. Most players seem to be more inclined to the good side of diplomacy, and Scratch is definitely top good boy, as he was petted over 750,000 times – dark times these may be, but petting always must be done.

Finally, and possibly the most eye-opening fact from the entire infographic: 368 players managed to finish the game during the opening weekend. If that’s not devotion and commitment, I don’t know what it is.
