With less than two months in the year left, Larian Studio has provided an update on Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox release date, addressing rumors and assuring it’s still planned for this year.
Last week, Exputer published a report claiming that the Xbox release date for Baldur’s Gate 3 was set for December 6. Their sources claimed that if playtests go accordingly, this was the date that Larian Studio was targeting.
Well, as it turns out, this release date was news to even Larian’s Director of Publishing, Michael Douse, as he took to X to debunk the rumor.

He goes on in a follow-up X post, suggesting that the team doesn’t know the release date themselves but still planned before the end of December.
We’ll know the release date once we’re confident in the release version. The plan is still before the end of the year. The key takeaway here should be that we want a really good version that Xbox fans deserve. This means we’ll work on it until we’re happy to release it.

For those who don’t know or remember, the Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 ran into technical issues due to the Xbox Series S’s technical inability to support split-screen. Due to the Xbox’s parity clause, the studio was forced to find a solution. However, after a meeting with Xbox’s CEO Phil Spencer, the team found a solution, though it meant cutting split-screen out of the Baldur’s Gate 3 for the Xbox Series S version. The Xbox Series X version will come with split-screen.
There are less than 60 days left in the year, and if we’re going to guess when we’ll hear a release date, it’ll likely be during The Game Awards show, which airs December 7.
