Battlefield 6 New Update 1.000.003

In August, DICE rolled out the Battlefield 6 Open Beta, which is the studio’s most bug-free beta test to date. Save a few issues, this was the most polished beta for any game we’ve seen.

Aside from the beta’s quality, the game was also fun, which further added to the game’s hype, which hasn’t abated since then and is now even higher leading up to launch.

It appears that the hype has translated into pre-order sales, as the shooter is already performing well on Steam.

Battlefield 6 Pre-Orders Already in the Millions

Analyst firm Ampere (via The Game Business) estimates that Battlefield 6 has 1.7 million pre-orders on Steam alone. Note that a lot of gamers tried the BF6 beta on the EA launcher, and chances are, they bought the game there too. This doesn’t even account for console numbers, which should, at the very least, match Steam’s stats.

Our report in August shows that Battlefield 6 is trending as one of the most pre-ordered games on the PlayStation Store and is even surpassing Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 to this day. While I don’t expct BF6 to outsell Black Ops 7, the fact that it managed to do this is impressive enough.

Ampere also believes the game will sell five million in its first week, which we’re presuming is for all platforms. While that is a big number, I have a hunch it might do more than that — at least, based on the hype I’m seeing online.

Battlefield 6 Reportedly Convinced Call of Duty Players to Switch

There’s another interesting tidbit in the report, although it is somewhat lacking in tangible data. With that said, we strongly advise caution before treating it as fact.

Ampere said that Call of Duty players who tried the Battlefield 6 beta, a significant number didn’t return to Call of Duty. Here’s what was shared:

  • For July 2025, Ampere looked at the share of Call of Duty players who also played the Battlefield 6 Beta, and whether they went back to Call of Duty afterwards. For this group of players (this is purely people who played both games), 29% on Xbox didn’t return to Call of Duty in August, 24% on PlayStation didn’t return, and 48% on Steam didn’t return. Therefore, Ampere predicts that disruption for Call of Duty this year will likely be more severe on Steam than consoles.

There are a lot of questions left unanswered when it coems to this. How did Ampere measure the console numbers? This is why we advise people to take this data with a grain of salt.
