Black Ops 6 Omnimovement Not Meant to Make Game Faster but More Fluid, Won’t Widen Skill Gap Too Much
In case you didn’t know, Treyarch hs introducing “omnimovement” in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which lets players strafe, dive and move in any direction. This is a whole new movement system for the Call of Duty franchise that should make engagements more dynamic in nature. However, that doesn’t mean it’ll be faster.
In the inaugural COD POD Call of Duty podcast, Associate Director Matt Scronce mentioned that omnimovement won’t necessarily make the game faster, but more fluid. “It was never about ‘let’s make the game faster,’ it really was how do we push on fluidity and provide those opportunities.”
In the same chat, Scronce mentions how omnimovement won’t widen the skill gap, which is good news for those who hate bunnyhopping in games, who are assuming this will that players will be abusing this new movement system in order to avoid getting hit. “We’ve been very conscious of making sure that we’re not widening the skill skill gap too too much, and and like I said if you just want to slow down you can and you can still be successful you just may not look as cool.”
Of course, once players get their hands on omnimovement, I am expecting all sorts of stunts to be pulled off. It’s not a why, but only when until we see players somehow break it if past shooter games are anything to go by. Even if that’s the case, I suspect most Call of Duty players will be more accepting of this than Modern Warfare 2019’s super slowed down pace.
In the same chat, Scronce confirmed that scorestreaks won’t loop, and that melee weapons will now get their own loadout slot.
Black Ops 6 is set for release this October 25 on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The beta is set to launch next month on all platforms, which you can read about here.
