It’s no secret that this year’s Call of Duty title is being developed by Infinity Ward, with the studio even seemingly teasing the game just a few days into the new year. Could this unannounced game (which is totally not Call of Duty 2019) be released not only for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC, but even for the next wave of consoles like the PS5, Next Xbox and more?
In new job listings by Infinity Ward, it mentions that they’re looking for a Senior Rendering Engineer that can drive the vision of what true next-gen console can achieve. The job listing is here, which seems to have been amended by Infinity Ward (screenshot via Dexerto):
The “Responsibilities” also mention that the engineer spot will work with the engine team to develop cutting edge tech for Infinity Ward’s next AAA title.
Responsibilities:
Work with the engine team to develop cutting edge rendering technology for our next AAA title
Work with the content team to understand the desired visual results
Write and maintain robust, high-quality code which meets performance goals given the challenging technical constraints of the target platforms
Analyze, optimize, and improve existing rendering pathways and content creator workflows
Contribute ideas for features and improvements as the engine evolves
Communicate and educate fellow developers about implemented features and rendering technologies in general
Adhere to team coding standards and best practices
Understand and embrace the constraints of a game development cycle (you know when bug fixing and optimization become more important than new features)
Odds are, Infinity Ward’s latest game won’t be COD: Ghosts 2, or even Infinite Warfare, with rumors floating that it’s none other than Modern Warfare 4.
