Earlier today, Treyarch announced and released the Shamrock & Awe special event for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. For fans of the franchise, you might remember the event being available for Call of Duty: WWII, and even in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.
While COD: WWII’s Shamrock & Awe event introduced new items and weapons into the game, that isn’t the same with Black Ops 4 — unless you pony up $20. In Black Ops 4, Treyarch has rolled out new game modes for multiplayer, a new Hardcore playlist for Blackout, and Hellcatraz Gauntlet for Zombies mode, but no actual items in the Supply Stream that can be earned! However, there is a “Special Offer” available for the event that includes Reserve Crates, and other cosmetic stuff that you’ll need to buy for $20 in order to obtain.
Check out the image below via Reddit user mrdoitnyce who also posted how the Shamrock & Awe content is being gated by $20.
If you’re somehow assuming that this is the same with COD: WWII, think again. Reddit user theSlickRaccoon posted a comparison of how the Shamrock & Awe event from COD: WWII has more content than the one for Black Ops 4.
Black Ops 4 Shamrock & Awe:
– Spring update to Blackout/ Hardcore
– Op. Mods in Blackout
– Exclusive PS4 emote
– 2000 CP bundle
– Huricane Contraband
– Seasonal Stockpile
COD: WWII Shamrock & Awe:
– Shipment 1944, free for everyone
– Overhauled HQ
– Introduction of weapon charms
– New reticles
– The MG81 Lmg and M-38 Smg
– Zombies event (animated camos)
– Comunity challenge w/ free cosmetics
– Leprechaun hunt
– Tons of event themed comsetics
As you can plainly see, the COD: WWII Shamrock & Awe event runs laps around Black Ops 4’s in terms of content.
Will Activision and Treyarch cave and put some of the Shamrock & Awe items in the Supply Stream so people can earn in “normally?” Does it even matter for Black Ops 4 players? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
