Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Campaign Will Let You Play From an Arab Soldier’s Perspective, Soap McTavish Allegedly Returning

With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Infinity Ward is not only re-introducing a single-player mode which was abandoned in Black Ops 4 last year, but t’s even doing new things in terms of gameplay narrative.

According to impressions from multiple outlets who have attended the preview events, the Modern Warfare campaign will have gamers play from the perspective of an Arab soldier. What’s more, according to ArsTechnica, this won’t just be a section of the game, but the entire second half!

The development team is doing this in part to usher in a first for the series: an entire half of the campaign played from the perspective of an Arab soldier.

Of course, it’s safe to assume that other parts of the Modern Warfare campaign will have the player in the shoes of Tier 1 Operators same as before. Given the game’s in first-person, I gather the Arab soldier perspective will have some rather uncomfortable moments, which is what Infinity Ward might be going for.

Speaking of the Modern Warfare campaign, Polygon’s preview of the game mentions John “Soap” McTavish will be making a return!

While the game will bring back Tier 1 operators, including SAS operatives Captain John Price and John “Soap” McTavish, both reimagined for Modern Warfare, we’ll also see how war affects rebels and freedom fighters from their first-person perspective.

According to CharlieIntel, Infinity Ward mentioned that while Captain Price was indeed confirmed to be coming back, the studio declined to comment on other returning characters. This could possibly a misunderstanding by Polygon, or they might have just slipped something up without knowing that they did.
