Chivalry 2 Open Beta Won’t Require PS Plus, But Xbox Will Require Gold Membership Confirmed

Chivalry II Update 1.009

Earlier today, Trip Banner Studios and publisher Tripwire announced that the Chivalry 2 open beta starts on May 27. For those playing on PlayStation platforms (PS4, PS5), you’ll be able to take part in it even if you’re not a PlayStation Plus (PS+) member, though those on Xbox can’t.

This has been confirmed in the Chivalry 2 open beta press release sent out which includes the following disclaimer:

NOTE: PlayStation users will be able to access the Open Beta for free, without a PlayStation Plus subscription required. Xbox users will require an Xbox Live Gold subscription to play the Open Beta.

I’ll admit, this surprised us a bit given Microsoft did announce that free-to-play games won’t require an active Xbox Live Gold membership to play. That said, Chivalry 2 isn’t a F2P game, and it looks like betas for non-F2P games will still require an active subscription on Xbox platforms.

Chivalry 2 is out this June 8 on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
