Cities: Skylines 2 Announces Revamped Photo Mode Feature in Latest Developer Deep Dive

Cities Skylines 2 Photo Mode

The final deep dive has been released for Cities: Skylines 2 by publisher Paradox Interactive, taking a peek at their revamped “Photo Mode” highlighting even more features to improve upon their first installment. This time, they’re showcasing the overhauled Cinematic and Free Camera modes, designed to give the player as much freedom as possible with which show off their bustling cities.

Take a look at their own trailer here:

While previously both Cinematic and Free Camera modes existed on their own, they’ve now been merged into one singular button in Cities: Skylines 2, simply called “Photo Mode”.

There’s a lot to unpack about said button and all of its subcategories, but it can be broken down into just a few points.

  • The Camera tab allows for adjustments to the camera itself, such as: Camera Body, Lens and Aperture Shape.
  • The Lens tab gives you control over Depth of Field, Motion Blur, Vignette, Film Grain, Bloom and Panini Projection settings.
  • The Color tab lets you change White Balance, Brightness and adjust the overall Color of your picture.
  • The Weather tab gives you godly abilities to change the weather as you see fit: clouds, fog and the atmosphere as a whole.
  • The Environment tab gives you the option to change the Time of Day, or set the simulation speed, useful for creating videos in the Cinematic mode.

Speaking of the Cinematic Camera feature, you can create full and beautiful videos in Cities: Skylines 2, showcasing your city utilizing whichever of the above properties you have set up. The feature also allows you set up various key points within your playback, allowing you to transition your view of the city through a multitude of angles and settings.
