Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty Sales Hit 5 Million Copies

Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty Sales

CD Projekt Red has announced that Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty sales have hit over 5 million copies since its launch two months ago.

Making the announcement on X, Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty sales have reached and surpassed 5 million copies since its release.

The expansion has initially sold 3 million copies in its first week and has since garnered an additional 2 million. With over 25 million copies of Cyberpunk 2077 out there, we expect this number to continue growing as the year progresses.

Quite the success CD Projekt Red has here, though they don’t mention if the sales figures include Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition which was released in December, or if this is solely from standalone purchases.

Regardless, huge congrats to the team on this one. Phantom Liberty, as well as the 2.0 update, were a massive turnaround for the game and studio, something that many didn’t think would be possible after one of the most disastrous launches in gaming history, so much so that it got the game pulled from some digital storefronts. However, after many updates, it was eventually brought back. Fans, however, remained cautious of the title.

It was really only with the release of Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 and Phantom Liberty that CD Projekt Red once again saw players returning, as the overhaul brought many missing features.

It was a lesson that the studio took to heart, that eventually paid off, not just for them, but for players too.

It’ll be interesting to see how the studio applies these lessons to the next Witcher game, though we have faith they won’t be repeating past mistakes.
