Do you pause your game when things become a bit too stressful or hectic? Do you think not having that option will make it a little more terrifying? Motive Studio’s (the studio in charge of the upcoming Dead Space remake) Joel MacMillan certainly thinks so.
In an interview. MacMillan (who is the Realization Director of Dead Space remake) states that he thinks removing the ability to pause in horror games will make it more more “impactful.”
“In horror games, you can pause and you have a moment of safety there. You can take a breath. And I think you get a reprieve from that. It deflates some of the tension. But with persistent online games, you’re playing with dozens of other people, and you can’t just pause everybody’s game. I think removing that as a feature would make horror games far more impactful — You would truly feel like you’re never actually safe.”

I 100% agree. It takes away the opportunity to pause and breathe which definitely creates a much more tense and unnerving atmosphere. FromSoftware games don’t allow pausing and I think that also adds to the tension.
So what if you need to take a crap suddenly why you’re being sworn by five enemies I hate the fact that they make these games where I can’t pause I have what’s called a life but maybe you don’t
So w/o pause you can be afraid and poo in your pants for real.
And if you have to pee all of a sudden, you must have 85 so have a good end-life!
Removing pause would be idiotic on multiple levels. Gamers have to pee, for one. A shitload of gamers also have kids. Just a stupid idea, period
I don’t need another game where I can’t pause I have what’s called a life and sometimes I need to pause the game for i example let’s say I need to go to the bathroom all of a sudden while I’m being swarmed by five enemies this whole thing with games on having a pause feature really pisses me off
Give players the choice. My son would love it and I would hate it.
No I don’t agree with that at all. Eventually I gotta go take a piss or ish and not being able to pause while I go leaving me open to get killed and have to start from previous checkpoint would greatly piss me off. Then I’d rant bout the flaws in the game on all social platforms
