Well, put this on my 2023 list of things I was not expecting! Bungie has announced a new collaboration with CD Projekt Red, for a new Destiny 2 crossover with The Witcher! Toss a coin to your Wicther, er, I mean Guardian.

Season of the Wish is officially underway! While Guardians have plenty to look forward to from Destiny 2 this season, one surprise was kept under wraps, and that’s the news that Bungie is collaborating with CD Projekt Red for a very special Witcher crossover! That’s right, iconic Witcher gear is now available to unlock in Destiny 2, and we have to say, the offerings are looking rather incredible.

“CDPR were excellent creative partners to collaborate with,” said Destiny 2 Art Lead Josh Deeb on the PlayStation Blog. “They came to the table ready with ideas that started with Destiny 2 at their core and built authentically onto that framework with iconic Witcher visuals.”

“Destiny is known for its futuristic look. When it came to what we could bring to that world, I think it was the opportunity to fuse it with low fantasy elements,” said Przemysław Juszczyk, CDPR’s head of franchise art. “We focused the design process on introducing more combinations of leather padding, belts, thick fabrics, and chain mails with metal accents similar to those in The Witcher franchise.”

Oh yeah, those are looking fantastic!

Though Destiny is set in the distant future, one wonders why Cyberpunk 2077 wasn’t picked instead, especially with the recent release of Phantom Liberty and the upcoming Ultimate Edition being around the corner. It’s not a complaint, though, as we’re more than happy to see The Witcher getting more love. Plus, CD Projekt Red is working on a new Witcher game, so there is that.
