Destiny 2 Down on December 2 for Big 9.5.0 Update

Heads up, guardians! Destiny 2 is down this December 2, and it’s a lot earlier than usual. This downtime is triggered, as Bungie is preparing to release the 9.5.0 update on all platforms today.

Note that servers should be offline by the time you read this. Again, it’s a lot earlier than Bungie’s maintenance windows.

Destiny 2 Down and Offline on December 2 for Patch 9.5.0

Tuesday, December 2, 2025 — Update 9.5.0

4:30 AM PST -8 UTC
    • Destiny 2 will undergo maintenance.
    • Sign-on and game integration features will be unavailable on web, mobile, third-party apps, and the Bungie Store.
    • Players who observe issues should report to the #Help forum.
5:00 AM PST -8 UTC
    • Destiny 2 and all APIs will be brought offline for expected maintenance.
    • Players will be removed from activities.
    • Destiny 1 may be impacted.
09:00 AM PST -8 UTC
    • The latest Destiny 2 update will be available across all platforms and regions.
    • Players will be able to log back into Destiny 2.
    • Players logging into the game may be placed in a queue and may experience sign-on issues as background maintenance is still ongoing.
    • The Destiny 2 API will be brought online.
    • Clan features may remain offline until maintenance is complete.
11:00 AM PST -8 UTC
    • Destiny 2 maintenance is expected to conclude.
    • Console players who encounter issues updating should restart their console and try downloading the update.
    • Players who observe issues should report to the #Help forum.

While we’re not expecting the downtime to last longer than outlined above, it does happen from time to time. Once the patch is out, expect it to apply the “Renegades” patch, which ushers in the new Star Wars content.

We’ll have a separate article for the patch notes where the Renegades details will be discussed in depth too. If anything changes regarding the downtime, we’ll update the article.
