The Destruction Mechanics in Battlefield Labs Will Remind You of Bad Company 2; Sniper Hits Will Send Players Flying

If there’s one thing Battlefield players will agree on when it comes to the past Battlefield games, it’s that the destruction — which was one of the biggest gameplay features of the franchise — has been a major disappointment.

Based on what we’ve seen from the leaked Battlefield Labs playtests, that won’t be an issue at all.

Battlefield Labs Destruction Is a Throwback to the Series’ Past Games

(thanks,  Caledor152!)

The video above showcases the game’s destruction, and even in its pre-alpha state, it’s leaps and bounds above what we got in Battlefield 2042! Just like in Battlefield: Bad Company 2, you can seemingly destroy a lot of the structures, and you can blow the walls so that anyone hiding inside will be open to gunfire. This adds another element of strategy both to infantry and vehicles.

Another video that’s out there confirms that when you get hit by a sniper rifle, your body will be pushed back hard as if you’re flying! This isn’t anything major, but it’s a cool addition made by DICE.

(thanks, Sialorphin!)

In regards to more of the playtest, we’ve had multiple videos of players taking part in the first Battlefield Labs playtest, and while it’s nice to see an early look at the latest Battlefield game, the people playing in the videos aren’t exactly what you call a good representation of the Battlefield experience (or is it?).

Today, new gameplay clips from Battlefield Labs have surfaced. Not only are these videos much clearer, but the players seem to actually know what they’re doing.

New PreAlpha Gameplay shows different area of map

The first clip we have shows a different area of the Battlefield Labs map we’ve seen before. Not only that, but we even get to see the smoke launcher in action and used properly! The player shoots it to hide their teammates getting revived.

We also get to see the player getting revived by someone, though it’s worth mentioning that this is pre-alpha gameplay, so the animations and whatnot are not finished.

Another clip has also surfaced where we see more gunplay, the player getting into cover, and even the body dragging mechanic used effectively!

We’re hoping more footage and mechanics are revealed in the next playtest, which is rumored to be sometime this month as well. As always, if anything surfaces, expect it here on MP1st, where we will report on the latest and most accurate battlefield news.

So far, so good, the new Battlefield game seems to be on the right track, and we’re hoping DICE doesn’t stray far from it.
