Diablo 4 to Feature 3 Kinds of Battle Passes, Season 1 Begins in July and Requires Campaign to be Beaten

diablo 4 battle pass

While we already posted an article talking about Diablo 4’s post-launch support, Blizzard has shared a lot more about it. For starters, it’s now confirmed that Diablo 4 will feature three kinds of the game’s Battle Pass, as well as when players can expect the first season to be available.

Diablo 4 Battle Pass Variants and Overview:

  • Free Battle Pass – Simply called “Battle Pass”
  • Premium Battle Pass – Will cost 1,000 Platinum (equivalent to $9.99 USD
  • Accelerated Battle Pass – All perks of the Premium Battle Pass along with 20 Tier skips, a special cosmetic and will cost 2,800 Platinum ($24.99 USD).

Same with Battle Passes in other games, players must purchase the Premium Battle Pass to earn rewards from the premium tiers. This will not provide any in-game power but will instead unlock tiers that provide cosmetics unique to that season and “Platinum” currency.

Platinum can be spent in the in-game shop to acquire new cosmetics for your character, and can only be acquired by using real world currency.

As with other games, each new season will bring with it a new Battle Pass that will contain 27 free tiers, 63 premium tiers. Players will be able to earn cosmetics and Smoldering Ashes from free tiers by slaying enemies and playing the game normally.

What Are Smoldering Ashes?

Smoldering Ashes are an in-game resource that can be spent on Season Blessings.

What Are Season Blessings?

Season Blessings provide players with a bonus to earn XP, Gold or Obols depending on which Blessings you spend Ashes on. Players can have more than one Season Blessing activate at a time, and can use additional Ashes to upgrade the bonus they receive.

Note that the bonuses gained from Season Blessings only last until that respective season ends. Also, given that Season Blessings do affect gameplay, players must meet certain character level requirements to claim Smoldering Ashes.

Diablo 4 Season 1 Release Timing:

According to Blizzard, Diablo 4’s first season will begin in “mid to late July,” and players must complete the main campaign first.

Hopefully, there won’t be any added Diablo 4 currency outside of the ones we have. Stay tuned for more Diablo 4 coverage here on MP1st.
