Dino Survival Horror Game Instinction Moving to Unreal Engine 5, Ray Tracing Available on Supported Hardware

Instinction ray tracing

In case you missed it, Hashbane Studios released an all-new trailer for their upcoming dino survival horror game, Instinction. In it, we saw some short snippets of new gameplay, but more impressively, the high-fidelity visuals that the team is aiming for with their environments and dinosaurs. Well, as gorgeous as that trailer was, it would appear that Hashbane Studios has plans to make the game even more beautiful, as it will be moving Instinction production from Unreal Engine 4 to the newer version, Unreal Engine 5.

In a press release preview that the studio sent out, Hashbane confirmed that what we saw in the recent trailer was all captured using Unreal Engine 4. That should be of no surprise to anyone as the engine was confirmed during Instinction’s initial announcement. However, with the game release still a bit of a way out, and a new version of Unreal Engine now readily available, Hashbane  took the opportunity to also confirm that Instinction will now use Unreal Engine 5 for its final production.

UE5 will allow for us to further push the lighting and model quality. A few dino models will be improved on and/or replaced to be completely unique to Instinction, we’re working with most of the original artists for new models and animations. There is a lot going on behind the scenes and we will share more details as and when we can through our socials.

And speaking of lighting, while the trailer didn’t feature it, Hashbane has also confirmed ray tracing support for Instinction! And this isn’t just on PC either. When we asked whether or not the next-gen consoles (PS5 & Xbox Series) would support the feature they replied stating that all devices that can support it will have it in their options. Seeing that both the PS5 and Xbox Series X are more than capable of supporting it, I think its safe to say we can expect to see the feature on both platforms.

Instinction is set to release sometimes in 2022 o both last-gen and next-gen consoles, as well as PC.
