Dying Light 2 Custom Maps Now Possible with Dev Tools, Console Support Planned

Dying Light 2‘s getting a new feature that will allow players to build and share custom maps. The upcoming Dying Light 2 custom map feature was announced alongside a partnership with mod.io, a mod support system for games.

The developer tools needed to build the custom maps are already out, and you can download them for free on Steam and the Epic Games Store, with consoles getting it at some point, as Techland has it planned “down the road.”

Custom maps will also be available across platforms once the developer tools fully launch. This will allow console players to get in on the fun of game customization, something that’s usually only available to the PC audience. While cross-platform support isn’t up just yet, it should arrive sometime in Q1 2023.

To celebrate the arrival of this feature, Dying Light 2 will host a contest for the community very soon. The contest, titled “Shape Your City,” features a $50,000 USD prize pool, so there’s a lot of incentive for budding mapmakers to join the festivities. There will also be an ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 Laptop and AMD hardware prizes up for grabs for those who want to get their hands on something more physical.

If you’re interested in giving the contest a shot, entries will be submittable until January 20 next year, with the winners announced on February 2.

Dying Light 2 is currently out on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Check out our review for Dying Light 2 here, where it scored a solid 8.5/10.
