Dying Light 2 Roadmap for Fall and Winter 2023 Includes Co-Op Missions, Raids, and More

dying light 2 roadmap

Fans of Techland’s zombie parkour game have been clamoring for some new content, and it looks like Techland is listening. Today, we got our first look at the Dying Light 2 roadmap for Fall and Winter 2023. It includes new co-op missions, a raid, and even some interesting crossover events.

Dying Light 2 Roadmap for Fall and Winter 2023:

Techland was kind enough to provide a handy little infographic for all the updates we can expect to see over the coming months:

Did we mention that all of this content is free? There’s a bunch to see here, so let’s break some of it down.

Co-Op Missions and Raids

Until now, players have only been able to engage in regular story missions through co-op, acting as background characters to the host’s main story. With dedicated co-op missions, players can hopefully expect something more intentionally designed to support multiple friends. The depth of these missions remains to be seen, but it’s something to look forward to.

Part of these co-op missions include a new co-op oriented tower raid, which acts sort of like a dungeon-based mission. If it’s anything like other raids, survivors will have to work together to complete puzzles and defeat difficult enemies in order to get their hands on quality loot. We’d love to see some parkour challenges included in the tower.

Guns, Guns, Guns

Players were severely disappointed by Dying Light 2’s lack of firearms upon release, especially considering that the first game had loads of guns. Techland is finally looking to remedy that with an update that will bring bullets and boomsticks to Villedor. Keep your eyes peeled for that sweet, sweet shotgun.

Crossovers and Events

For spooky season this year, Vampire: The Masquerade will be swooping into Dying Light 2 alongside a dedicated Halloween event. Following these, For Honor will make an appearance in Villedor in mid-November. Finally, zombie slayers will have the opportunity to get festive with the Winter Celebrations event sometime in December. Techland also teased a 2nd Anniversary Event for the game, which we can assume will take place in February 2024.

Quality-of-Life Improvements

In between all the big updates, we’ll continue to see steady improvements made across the board. Weapon repairing, new outfits, higher difficulties and weapon rarities, finishers, and community mods support are just a handful of the neat new updates coming to Dying Light 2. The future is looking good.

If you remember, it took the original Dying Light a couple of years to really hit its stride. Dying Light 2 looks to be taking the same road, as all of these updates really make the game look good. We’re excited to get our hands on them when they drop in the next few months.

When we reviewed Dying Light 2 last year, we gave it an 8.5/10 called it an experience that “stands out amongst the crowded zombie genre.” You can check out that review here.

Techland really lost their way with this game. All of the delays just gave them more time to try and FarCry-ify the crap out of it, so it doesn’t even feel like a zombie game at all. They need to hold off on DL3, and maybe make a new Call of Juarez to finish out this generation.
