EVO 2020 Still Planned to Push Ahead Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

With more and more events being cancelled worlwide due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some might have assumed that the EVO 2020 Championship Series being cancelled is a foregone conclusion. Well, as it turns out, that’s not the case — at least not yet.

The official EVO Twitter made the following announcement today:

At this time, Evo is moving forward with its plans to hold the event July 31 – August 2, 2020 at Mandalay Bay (subject to its re-opening) bu we are actively monitoring updates from the WHO, CDC, local governments, and public health agencies regardig COVID-19 and continuing to assess the situation. The health of our attendees and staff will be the overriding factor in making a decision. Should Evo be postponed or cancelled, all ticket purchases will be refunded. – The Evo Team

The EVO Championship Series is the most prestigious fighting game tournament in video games, and usually has the world’s best players on hand to demonstrate who’s the best in each respective fighting game.
