Former Ubisoft Executives in Custody Over Sexual Harassment Allegations
French authorities have taken five former Ubisoft executives into custody as a result of a year-long inquiry into the allegations of sexual harassment and assault.
According to the report, two executives were detained today, with three others arrested yesterday. Amongst the five executives were Serge Hascoët, the former Chief Creative Officer, and Tommy François, the former Vice President of Editorial and Creative Services.
The plaintiff’s attorney, Maude Beckers portrayed the events unfolding at Ubisoft as more than just actions of isolated individuals. Instead, she asserted that they exposed a systemic issue of sexual violence within the company.
These allegations came to light back in 2020, and Ubisoft terminated several employees as a result. A year later, the company issued a statement reassuring employees that new HR policies had been implemented to prevent such incidents in the future.
GameIndustry.biz reached out to Ubisoft for comment, but one of their spokesperson said that” Ubisoft has no knowledge of what has been shared and therefore can’t comment.”
We will keep you informed with any updates on this matter. Stay tuned!
