Forspoken Game Length to Clock in at 30-40 Hours; In-Game Frequency Exchanges Can Be Adjusted

forspoken update 1.004

Those wondering how long it takes to complete Forspoken, we now know the Forspoken game length. Luminous Productions have confirmed that Forspoken will be a 30-40 hour long game for the main campaign.

Speaking to 3DJuegos, Forspoken co-director Takeshi Terada the main campaign will develop across 30-40 hours. Terada has also mentioned promised that the endgame of Forspoken will feature a great deal of secondary missions and exploration, too.

Continuing with the Forspoken news, if you’re one of the many people that didn’t like the quips and cringe-worthy dialogue from one of the trailers Square Enix released last month, we’ve got some good news for you!

First off, here’s the trailer that was released on social media that managed to gain a lot of traction, though for all the wrong reasons.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Forspoken’s Creative Director Raio Mitsuo acknowledged the reactions from social media, and explained a little bit more context about it.

It was unexpected to see the reactions to the social media post.

Basically, we used existing footage from previous trailers and put something together as a social media post. And yeah, it went kind of viral in a way – that’s not the direction that we thought it was going to go! But I have to admit, some of the memes are actually pretty funny, so I got a good laugh out of it.

“But, you know, for us, it’s not something that we’re concerned with. We’re obviously leaving a lot of information on the table, because we’re taking dialogue and scenes out of context. Forspoken is a very narrative driven game. It’s a very story based game. We don’t want to ruin the experience in our marketing campaign. We’re being very selective about what to use to generate interest and sometimes without that information about what led up to that moment, or what was the character’s state of mind, we’re leaving the audience the full freedom to interpret lines in any way they want. It’s just one of those challenges that come naturally when trying to find ways to show the game without telling the full story, because we definitely don’t want to reveal that.

For those who saw the gameplay videos and heard the banter between Frey and Cuff, and didn’t take to it a lot, you’ll be glad to know that the in-game dialogue frequency can be adjusted via the accessibility menu according to Square Enix.

We’re excited to see Luminous Productions’ attempt at crossing genre boundaries with this game. From the looks of it, Forspoken’s success may finally bridge the gap between the preferences of Japanese and Western gaming communities.

Square Enix‘s Forspoken comes out January 24, 2023 for PC and PS5. It is the second game to be built in the Luminous Engine that first debuted with Final Fantasy 15.
