Gaming Accessories Maker Turtle Beach Donates 800 Recon Controllers for Children in Hospital

Recon Controller

Manufacturer Turtle Beach has donated a whopping 800 Recon Controllers in collaboration with Gamers Outreach’s “GO Karts” program. Gamers Outreach is a charity organization that assists hospitalized children through the medium of video games. These GO Karts are little portable gaming stations specifically designed to keep the children company in their isolated hospital setting. With COVID-19 having stirred up the world, far stricter protocols have been put into place within hospitals, making Go Karts a Godsend for these children.

Turtle Beach, who had already previously collaborated with Gamers Outreach, had this to say regarding the matter:

When it comes to gaming and the benefits it adds to the health and recovery of kids, this was an easy decision. We’re happy the Gamers Outreach team came to us about donating our Recon Controllers for their new GO Karts. This is a great initiative we’re happy to continue supporting, and we’re looking forward to working together again in the future.

By their own estimation, these Recon Controllers will provide support for up to at least 750k children a year. The newest GO Karts, equipped with Turtle Beach’s Recon Controllers will make their way into hospitals starting in October, 2023. They expect over 250 of the GO Karts to be in use by the end of this year. These will primarily be in the U.S. and Canada, but also in the UK, Germany and Australia.

It’s always wonderful to see charity events such as this one between Turtle Beach and Gamers Outreach. It inspires some hope in humanity. The children are the real winners here, as their new Recon Controller-equipped GO Karts will go a long way towards making their unwanted stays in hospitals more bearable.
