German Ratings Board Thought Nintendo Labo Was Trash (Literally)

The German ratings board, Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle (Entertainment Software Self-Regulation), today revealed that it had accidentally thrown away the new Nintendo Labo cardboard peripheral, thinking it was trash.

They tweeted the following (in German):

Translated as:

“Finally we can tell the story, when we had the latest Nintendo hardware, it was almost dumped by the cleaning crew as waste paper … In the past no one would have believed this story, anyway.”

Thankfully, the ratings board did still manage to assess Labo, and the peripheral will be launching in Germany, and the rest of the world, on April 20.

Of course, bits of cardboard could well look like rubbish to the untrained eye. If you plan on investing in Labo “technology,” we’d recommend letting everyone in your house know. We don’t want to see your Labo creations thrown in the trash!
