GTA 6 Physical Discs Might Be Happening After All, Though at a Later Date
With yesterday’s big Grand Theft Auto 6 confirmation that the base game will cost $80, it was also announced that retail copies will include a game code and won’t include any physical discs.
For those upset with this news, you’re not the only one, and it seems there is a light at the end of this disc-less tunnel.
However, the sources for the confirmation aren’t exactly officially official.
GTA 6 Might Be Getting a Physical Disc in the Coming Months
After pre-orders for GTA 6 went live, customers sent inquiries regarding physical discs, and customer support responded back, and said (via VICE), “Thank you for contacting Rockstar Support. Please note that the current pre-order is indeed just for a digital-only update; you will be able to acquire a physical copy during the following months.”
However, it’s worth pointing out that this could be an auto-generated answer, and not to mention, it doesn’t specify whether how long this “following months’ timeframe is.
We’ve reached out to Rockstar Games and will update the story if we hear anything back.
While Rockstar’s support email might or might not have gotten it right, there’s another source that claims GTA 6 will indeed receive physical discs.
Polish site PPE mentioned that GTA 6 will receive a disc version sometime in December, stating, “GTA 6 is to be sold with a code in the box only around the release, and then we will receive a normal boxed version of the game – with a disc on which we will find data allowing us to run GTA 6 without assigning a key/access to our account on PlayStation or Xbox.”
Per the Polish site, this info comes from insider Graczdari, who was the person who leaked that GTA 6 would not have a physical disc at launch back in March 2026. At the time, no one believed the insider, though after yesterday’s developments, we’re more keen to hear what they have to say.
Speaking of Poland, the game is so big that it even reached the country’s parliament.
GTA 6 will be released on November 19 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S.
