There are only 13 days left until the return of the Master Chief with Halo: Campaign Evolved, a remake of the 2001 classic built with Unreal Engine 5. The game launches on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, bringing back the original campaign with updated visuals.

Unlike Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, this release only includes the single-player campaign and does not feature multiplayer. Many fans have welcomed this decision, as the original Bungie game is still remembered for having one of the best science fiction stories in gaming.

However, new details about the physical editions have caused concern among players

Halo: Campaign Evolved Won’t Play Straight From the Disc

Although every physical edition, including the Collector’s Edition, comes with a disc, the game cannot be played immediately. According to the information printed on the box, players must first download additional content before they can start the game.

X (formerly Twitter) account Does it Play?, which checks whether physical games work without an internet connection, confirmed that Halo: Campaign Evolved requires an extra download before it can be played, even after installing the game from the disc.

This means players will need an internet connection the first time they launch the game to download the required files.

Furthermore, it appears that the game requires an additional login through its own interface. If this remains the case, it could prevent players from using the game completely offline, even after all the required content has been downloaded.

This information comes from a user who received the PS5 Collector’s Edition before release, with early access beginning on July 23. There is no confirmation yet about the Xbox physical version, but it is expected to work the same way.
