While we already know that Destiny 2 is getting a new paid expansion in September called Beyond Light, Guardians all over the world might be curious how the current year is shaping up, and we’re here to help with the Destiny 2 roadmap 2020 update.

Thanks to our friends at Blueberries.gg, we have a condensed, list-form version of the Destiny 2 roadmap 2020 update, that includes core changes, the new rewards rolled out by Bungie and lots more! Oh, and it even touches on Beyond Light, and the known content coming in 2021, and 2022 — at least, what’s officially known so far.

Destiny 2 Roadmap 2020 Update (as of July 2020):

Summer 2020 Season of Arrivals (S11)
Core changes

Umbral Engrams:

► Newly introduced Umbral engrams for Seasonal rewards that also drop from core activities and allow you to focus your rewards.

► Reintroduction of 6 weapons from Seasons 8-10.

Sandbox Changes:

► The following weapon archetypes were buffed: Slug shotguns and bows in PVE and High-impact Pulse rifles in PVP.

► Weapon perks fine-tuning: Reload perks slightly nerfed, some underused perks buffed. Also, the introduction of new Perks.

► New catalyst for Trinity Ghoul introduced, turning it into one of the best exotic primaries in the game.

► Antaeus Wards nerfed.

► Powerful friends mod no longer stacks.

► Some enhancer loader mods now drop from Pinnacle sources.

SBMM Removal:

► Skill-based matchmaking removed from all PVP playlists except Trials of Osiris, Survival, and Competitive playlist in favor of connection-based matchmaking.

Also:

► World loot pool updated to include weapons from Crucible, Strikes, and Gambit (will occur seasonally).

► Max Power Level for infusion now visible.

► A controller remapping feature added.

► Exotic armor random rolls with high stats now sold by Xur.

► Relaxed expiration times for Bounties.

Content & Rewards

New Dungeon:

► The surprise addition of a brand-new dungeon: Prophecy.

► New Daito armor added as aspirational loot for Prophecy (originally planned for Eververse).

► Reprised gear, including updated Trials of the Nine armor and Ikelos weapons, also added to Prophecy’s loot pool.

Trials Rewards:

► New Trials weekly bounty now gives the 3 Wins Milestone reward of the week.

► Additional Masterwork materials drop at 3, 5, and 7 Trials wins (should help discourage token farming).

► Trials Tokens distribution has been rebalanced to focus on wins 3, 5, and 7 of a Trials Passage.

► Trials Tokens no longer awarded from match completions, only for wins and bounties.

► Passage of Wealth now doubles the bonus Trials Tokens earned at 3, 5, and 7 Trials wins.

Raid Rewards:

► The following raid Exotics now have an increased drop rate: One Thousand Voices, Anarchy, Always on Time (Exotic Sparrow)

► Drop rates begin at 10% and increase to 50% max over 20 clears.

Also:

► Improved loot for Grandmaster Nightfalls with higher chances of dropping an Exotic armor item, Ascendant Shards, and Enhancement Prisms.

Cosmetics & Eververse

Eververse Changes:

► Season Pass now includes an additional 2300 Bright Dust.

► Bright Dust Purchases include a New “Flair” section featuring Shaders and Spawn FX.

► Legendary Weapon Ornaments no longer sold in Eververse.

► Bright engrams now include Eververse items from 3+ seasons prior.

Also:

► Highly requested items from previous Seasons are available again.

► Return of the Season of Opulence “Intrepid” Ornament sets.

Sep 22, 2020 – Year 4 Beyond Light (S12)
Core changes

Stasis subclass & Element:

► Introduction of a Stasis subclass allowing more choice, flexibility, and customizable skill trees.

► Introduction of Stasis as a fourth element alongside Void, Arc, and Solar.

Destiny Content Vault:

► The Destiny Content Vault will be used to take content away to be re-tooled and updated to be brought back at a later stage.

► Io, Titan, Mercury, Mars, and Leviathan will be cycled out and no longer be accessible.

Weapon Sunsetting:

► Start of sunsetting for Weapon and Armor from Seasons 1-8.

► Seasonal Mod slot will change to accept mods introduced throughout a full year.

Interconnected Story:

► A more interconnected narrative between seasons.

► An improved experience for new players in the newly added Cosmodrome destination.

Sandbox Changes:

► More weapon archetypes will be reworked: Low zoom Sniper Rifles, Assault Rifles (to give other than Adaptive frames a shot) and hand cannon ranges.

Also:

► Gambit and Gambit Prime will be merged into a single mode, with their original armor visuals available to earn from the Drifter.

► Weekly Bounties will be replaced with non-expiring and account-scoped objectives.

► Bounties will become more “optional”.

Content & Rewards

New Destination:

► Introduction of Europa, a brand-new location including strikes, and more.

► A brand new Raid set in the Deep Stone Crypt, the birthplace of the Exos.

Cosmodrome Returns:

► Destiny’s Cosmodrome returns as a selectable, explorable destination (it will be fleshed out to roughly Destiny 1 Year 1 parity throughout the season).

Trials Rewards:

► Adept Weapons for Trials

► A material-focused farming card for Trials.

Pursuit Gear:

► A new Pursuit Weapon for core activities (every season).

► A New Armor set for core activities (every year).

Raid Rewards:

► New Armor, Weapons, and Exotic Accessories for the new Raid.

Also:

► Gilding titles will be introduced (exact date TBC).

Cosmetics & Eververse

Aspirational Loot:

► Aspirational activities will provide at least one accessory to pursue (date TBC).

Eververse Changes:

► Items visually based on aspirational activities will no longer be sold on Eververse.

Winter 2020 – Summer 2021 Rest of Year 4
Core changes

Next Generation support:

► Next Generation support for new consoles enabling 60 FPS and 4K resolutions.

► Intergenerational cross-play (PS4 with PS5 and Xbox One with Xbox Series X).

Quality of Life:

► Accessible Bounties from the Destination Map (date TBC).

► Quest log improvements.

Content & Rewards

Vault of Glass Raid:

► Return of Vault of Glass, Destiny 1’s first-ever raid.

Trials Rewards:

► New Armor, weapons, and accessories for Trials (yearly).

Cosmetics & Eververse

Transmog:

► A Transmog system will be finally introduced (date TBC).

2021 The Witch Queen expansion (Year 5)

Cross-play:

► Cross-play support for Xbox, Playstation, PC, and Stadia.

► New, never seen before, destinations…

2022 Lightfall expansion (Year 6)

► New, never seen before, destinations…
