Hogwarts Legacy Gameplay Showcase 2 Gives Us a Glimpse at Combat, Mounts, Beasts, and More

With Hogwarts Legacy nearing its launch next year, we’re getting some more gameplay footage that features some of the game’s combat and systems. The recent Hogwarts Legacy Gameplay Showcase 2 livestream revealed some exciting new details regarding the upcoming fantasy RPG.

Hogwarts Legacy Gameplay Showcase 2 Video:

Hogwarts Legacy lets you fly around the world using brooms, and you can customize these rooms in a couple of ways. You can change the physical looks of the broom if you’re looking for a particular aesthetic, and you can also unlock special upgrades to make your broom better for travel.

The broom isn’t the only method of getting around, either. There are flying mounts in this game, such as the Onyx Hippogriff, an exclusive mount that you can get by pre-ordering any edition of Hogwarts Legacy. Flying mounts aren’t necessarily better than brooms in terms of transportation, so players can choose which method of traversal works best for them.

Another feature that really changes the immersive experience of Hogwarts Legacy is the game’s seasons. The environment will look different depending on what season you’re currently in, with new gameplay footage showcasing a snow-filled landscape during winter.

One highly-anticipated element of Hogwarts Legacy was its combat, and it seems the devs want to keep it as true to the source material as possible. The wand-based combat is very different from modern action games due to its ranged element. You can use potions to give your character buffs during tight situations, too.

The livestream also gave us a glimpse of Hogwarts’ iconic Room of Requirement. The space is fully customizable, and you can change the space in various ways to make it look the way you want. You can unlock additional cosmetics for the room as you progress through the game.

In the room, you can upgrade your gear to make yourself better prepared for the later stages of the game. To upgrade your gear, you’ll need beast materials, though, and to get those, you’ll have to get up close and personal with them at the Vivarium. By caring for the beasts, they’ll open up to you and provide the required materials you need.

Hogwarts Legacy is currently available for pre-order here. Owners of the Deluxe, Digital Deluxe, and Collector’s Edition of the game will also gain 72 hours of early access.

The game releases on February 10 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A recent delay resulted in the PS4 and Xbox One versions coming out on April 4, while the Nintendo Switch version will come way later on July 25.
