Developer Milestone has hit, uh, a milestone with Hot Wheels Unleashed! In a press release, Mattel announced that the Hot Wheels Unleashed units sold are now sitting at over one million units worldwide, which makes this the fastest-selling game by Milestone of all-time.
Since its launch this September 30, 2021, Hot Wheels Unleashed sold one million copies from both physical and digital storefronts, and was released simultaenously for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Here’s what the CEO of Milestone, and the Head of Digita Gaming at Mattel had to say about the achievement.
“Ever since we announced Hot Wheels Unleashed back in February, we’ve received thousands of heartfelt messages from fans,” said Luisa Bixio, CEO of Milestone. “This milestone is the umpteenth display of affection from our passionate community.”

Hopefully we’ll see a resurgence in arcade racing on this generation of consoles but whether or not that happens I’m glad we have this to either kick it off or hold us over. Maybe Milestone could talk with Rockstar about doing the next Midnight Club game before they make another one of these. Now wouldn’t that be something.”
