English actor Idris Elba (The Losers, Thor: Ragnarok) was revealed to be part of the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty DLC. In the trailer, he plays a standoffish FIA agent named Solomon Reed.

Introducing Idris Elba as Solomon Reed, an FIA Agent for the New United States of America. Team up and take on an impossible mission of espionage & survival.

Get ready for Phantom Liberty – a spy-thriller expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 set in an all new district of Night City. Coming 2023 to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Idris Elba is no stranger to gaming. He voice-acted Knuckles in the latest Sonic the Hedgehog movie, and he starred as Bloodsport in The Suicide Squad (2021). In Phantom Liberty, he forms an alliance with V and appears to play a major role in the DLC’s story.

Played by actor Idris Elba (Luther, Fast and Furious: Hobbs and Shaw, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, The Suicide Squad), who’s joining the cast of Phantom Liberty alongside Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand, Reed is a veteran New United States of America agent, and apparently the only person players can trust to help them fulfill an impossible mission of espionage and survival. Following the teaser’s climax, the actor appeared in a special video message directed at the audience and gamers worldwide, commenting on the character of Reed and his role in Phantom Liberty’s story.

Cyberpunk 2077 has been going through somewhat of a redemption arc in recent months. After the release of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime on Netflix, more people gained interest in the world of Cyberpunk. CD Projekt RED’s continued efforts to fix the game have apparently paid off, too, with Cyberpunk 2077 reaching one million daily active players across four weeks.

With the last update for last-gen consoles released last September, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is set to release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC only.
