Knockout City Will Add Features for Next-Gen Platforms Down the Road

Knockout City next gen

Velan Studio has confirmed that Knockout City will run native 4K at go frames-per-second (fps) on the PS5 and Xbox Series, though through boosted backwards compatibility, as the game does not have next-gen specific features. This could however change down the road.

In a recent EA review event that we took part in for Knockout City, developer Velan Studio took to a short Q&A session. In it, they were asked whether or not there would be any upgrades specifically for the PS5 and Xbox Series console. Here’s what they had to say.

Are there any upgrades or graphic advantages for players on the PS5 or Xbox Series X?

Karthik Bala, CEO of Velan Studios: So we currently at launch support the PS5 and Xbox Series through backwards compatibilities, and as part of that players on these new consoles will get a boost where they get native 4K at 60FPS and it’s butter smooth, it looks beautiful on the new platforms. As we said, across all platforms it’s pretty evenly balanced in terms of play no matter the input device or console. Even on Switch we have 60FPS at Switch resolutions. So we’re excited about next-gen consoles and to continue to evolve and add features to the game on those platforms down the road.

A bit of a bummer, but of course that should come as no surprise considering the game has not been officially announced for those platforms outside of backwards compatibility. Still, 60fps should suffice and judging from our play session Knockout City holds that frame-rate very well. It in all honesty is kind of hard to picture exactly what next-gen consoles can do for the game here. Although, PS5 Dualsense controller support might a very cool feature to add later.

Knockout City is now available on the Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It is also playable on the PS5 and Xbox Series via backwards compatibility. Stay tuned to our review hitting the site soon.
