Update 2: Bandai Namco has sent out the press release announcing the free upgrade as well.

Man of Medan started off the entire Dark Pictures Anthology series and Little Hope followed closely afterwards. These games marked the start of the Anthology series featuring horrific tales from the Curator’s own collection of stories. Today all owners of one or both of these titles can download a free update that will improve several aspects of the game giving an even greater immersive experience.

The free PlayStation 4, Xbox One & PC update for Man of Medan and Little Hope includes:

  • New difficulty settings & QTE warnings,
  • Improved UI & interactions,
  • Updated bearing art & event triggers,
  • Increased walking speeds,
  • More accessibility options, including subtitle sizing,
  • Additional Bonus for Man of Medan: discover a previously unseen chapter called  “Flooded”, introducing new gameplay and new deaths to the climatic ending of the game.

All these improvements will also be available for new-gen players as Man of Medan and Little Hope are now added to the digital stores of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Update: Thanks to reliable PlayStation Network data scraper PlayStation Game Size who has mentioned that this patch is for a free upgrade to the native PS5 version of the game.

Here’s what’s new per the game’s official PSN Store page:

Experience the upgraded version of Little Hope, now available on PS5™ and updated on PS4™.
New to this upgrade: difficulty settings & QTE warnings, improved UI & interactions, updated bearing’s art & event triggers, increased walk speeds and wider accessibility options including subtitle sizing.

Unfortunately, Supermassive Games has not acknowledged the patch. However, we do know that PS5 Trophies for the game has surfaced recently, and this could very well be tied to it. For those looking to download the update, note that some gamers have mentioned that installing it has deleted their old save files for the game.

This was reported on Steam, and even on Reddit.

We’re on the look out for any official patch notes released by the developers, and will update the post if we spot anything. Likewise, if you notice any gameplay-facing changes, leave a comment below and let us know.
