Marvel Rivals: Devs Have Designed System to Identify XIM Users; Zero Tolerance on Illegal Tools and Cheats
Like it or not, cheaters are part of online games — doubly so if it’s a free-to-play title, since there’s zero barrier for entry. This is an issue the devs are anticipating for the upcoming hero multiplayer game, Marvel Rivals.
In the closed beta conducted a few months ago, NetEase announced that they have banned over 190 accounts. Even with that accomplishment, the studio is already looking ahead for the release, and those looking to use a XIM/Cronus Max to gain an unfair advantage, NetEase is aware of these contraptions, and has said they have designed a system to identify said players using ’em.
This was revealed by the studio in an exclusive chat with MP1st.
MP1st: We’ve seen the devs ban quite a lot of accounts, which we assume are from PC. How will the devs handle XIM/Cronus users? And what’s the long-term plans for cheaters? Are IP bans considered?
NetEase: We have a zero-tolerance policy towards illegal assistance tools and cheats. We not only invest significant resources to monitor and analyze battle data and suspend suspicious accounts, but we also dedicate substantial effort to robust server and client security. For example, concerning the XIM converters mentioned above, we have designed a system to identify their behavior, and it currently shows promising accuracy. We will continue to follow up on this research in the future. After the game’s launch, we will monitor in-game situations at all times, promptly identifying and addressing any detected cheats.
This is definitely good news for both PC and console gamers. Hopefully, NetEase can combat these cheaters the moment Marvel Rivals launches this December 8.
In other Marvel Rivals news, the devs revealed Moon Knight will be added to the launch lineup, and you can check the character out here to see what he can do on the battlefield.
